Applications are invited for the post of Trustee for the South West Regional Anaesthesia Group. Download an application form Appointments will usually be made for a period of 6 years. • The first 3 years will be spent in one of the SOWRA administrative board positions of Chairman, Secretary, or Treasurer. • Following this period the remainder of the term will be spent as an ordinary trustee. The roles of the SOWRA board are as follows: Chairman • Act as chair of trustee board meetings and annual general meeting. • Ensure activities are aligned with the charity’s objects • Develop strategy for group • Coordination of annual activities. • Assist in day to day running of group. • Co-signatory on SOWRA account Secretary • Minute trustee meetings and AGM. • Communication with external organsiations • General society administration • Ensuring charity legal requirements are met and preparation of annual report of group’s activities to the charity commission • Assist in day to day running of group. Treasurer • General management of SOWRA accounts • Authorise expenditure • Prepare annual accounts for AGM and charity commission. • Assist in day to day running of group. Ordinary Trustee • Attend AGM and board meetings • Sit on trustee appointment panels • Ensure administrative boards activities are aligned charity’s objects. Person specification The applicant should demonstrate the following qualities: Essential • Be in a permanent non training grade NHS post (Consulatant or SAS grade) within the SOWRA region (Truro/Plymouth/Barnsatple/Exeter/Taunton) • Have a demonstrable interest in regional anaesthesia Desirable • Familiar with current training in anaesthesia • Actively involved in postgraduate education in regional anaesthesia • Previous experience of organising meetings/running societies.
